Cunard Line
Cunard Line is a British operated and American owned shipping company. This has been act as leading operators of the passenger ships across the North Atlantic. In the year 1870 this line fell behind by its rivals i.e. white star line and the Inman line. In order to win in this competition Cunard shipping company was reorganized again with the new game as Steamship Company, Ltd in order to raise its capital. Its rival White star joined International Mercantile Marine Co in 1902; it is an American owned company. So the British government provides loans and a subsidy to Cunard in order to build two new super liners that are essential to retain its identity in the time of competition. Once again in the year 1920 when Italians, Germans and the French built huge prestige liners Cunard faced new competition.
Not only had this, due to the economic depression cunard forced to suspend the construction of its own new super liner. In the year 1934 the British Government offered loans to the Cunard in order to finish the constructions of Queens Mary and to build the second ship the Queen Elizabeth if and only if, when Cunard ready to merged with the White Star line to form Cunard White-Star Ltd. Cunard owned two third shares of the new company and in 1947 it purchased the share of the White Star's and revert back to its name Cunard Line in 1950. In 1988 Carnival Corporation acquired the Cunard line. The new line also operates the Queen Victoria and the forthcoming Queen Elizabeth.
