Fred Olsen
Fred Olsen is a huge shipping company that was started by the Peter Olsen in 1848. At the time of his death in 1899 the company was working with 16 ships with an office at
Hvitsten. Than his son Thomas Fredrik took care and named the company as “Fred Olsen”. Ever after that he took the company with small boats to a multinational cruising company. He was cleared with his vision of providing supreme quality service on the number of network lines. Although first on domestic front than on internationally base.
Than after Fred death his sons Olsen and Thomas Olsen took over the shipping company. During that era the company expanded to its fullest. Even though, they entered in the aviation business also with their own airline Fred. After that Rudolf died in 1951 and Thomas also suffered from succumbed health that results in the eventually death of him in 1969. After that Thomas son that also named as Fred controls the company and becomes the director of the same in 1955. The company had also periodically entered in the tanking business also. It operated on total 40 ships. It sold its tanking share in 1973 and reentered in business in 1986. Presently this company “Fred Olsen” is owned by the daughter and the fifth generation of the Olsen family Anette S. Olsen. She took over that ownership of the Anette S. Olsen in the year 1995 and has been the CEO rest after but the Fred Olsen still remained as Chairman.
