Holland America Line

Holland America Line was borne in 1873 with a different name: Dutch-America Steamship Company. At that time it worked as a shipping as well as passenger line. As it’s headquarter is in Rotterdam and it provides service to American people, it became famous as Holland America Line (HAL). In 1872, the first ship sailed between the Rotterdam and New York. Until it was scheduled as a transatlantic passenger transport ended in New York, it remained as a main American Terminal. Other services were started a bit after in the century to the South America and Baltimore. A fully dedicated cargo service was started in the year 1899 to New York. It is a world record itself that within the 25 years of existence this line carried around 400,000 people from old traditional world to modern one. Although the shipping and transportation were the main source of income of HAL.

In 1895 company delights people by offering its first vacation cruise. In 1910 it offered its first vacation trip between New York and Holy Land. After that in 1971 HAL closed down its transatlantic passenger trade and in 1973 its cargo shipping division was sold out. After one and half decade it becomes the completely owned subsidiary of the famous Carnival Corporation. This corporation is the largest cruise line in the world. Presently this premium cruise brand operated with 14 ships to all the continents across the globe. It carries nearly 700,000 cruise passengers for leisure trip.
