Island Cruises
Island cruises was the name of brand that was operated by the Sunshine Cruises Limited. It was founded as the joint venture between the First Choice Travel PLC and the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. But in 2008 Royal Caribbean sold its shares of the company to TUI and the cruise line only fully ownership of the Island Escape was transferred to the TUI’s brand Thomas Cruises. This cruise company operates in Europe, South America, and Caribbean and product orientation basically at the markets of United Kingdom, Argentina and Brazil. Basically in Europe and the Caribbean, this Island Cruises serves primarily to the British Family market by offering “totally relaxed” cruising. Basically in South America this company targets the younger people to lure with their fabulous liners.
Island Cruise Company was founded in 2001 by the two well known brands. And started its operations with one ship in 2002, the Island Escape. A second ship joined the fleet of Island cruises in 2005, when Island Star was charted from the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. After April 2009 the sailings of the Island Star have been cancelled and the ship once again re-deployed to the Pullmantur Cruises, this was also the another subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Cruises limited. After that sailing on the Island Escape remains unaffected but now being sold under the TUI's existing Thomson Cruises brand.
