Louis Cruise Lines

Louis Cruise Lines are Cyprus based cruised line company. It operates cruises from Italy, Greece, Cyprus and France. This company also charters the several ships to the Thomson cruise liners. This company was established as the sister company of Louis plc in 1987.

This company shares are also quoted at the Cyprus Stock Exchange. This cruise liner company comprises of the older second or even third hand ships. One of all the Emerald is the last one that was built in the United States and still are in service. Louis Cruise Liners is the world fifth largest cruise operator company. This cruise company was the subsidiary of the Cyprus based travel and tourism group Louis plc. This travel group was founded in 1935. During the 1970s company start floating its ferries for short cruises. This eventually led to the purchase of the fabulous cruise ferry in 1987 from the Finland-based Birka Line for $4 million. Renamed that cruise ferry as MV Princesa Marissa, by the 1994 the company was acquired with three more ships and all of them were used in the short cruise market from Cyprus. In mid 90s this company also entered in the business of chartering ships to others. Royal Olympic was also facing difficulty at that time. Although after the 11 September attacks, the leading Royal Olympic finally collapsed in 2004. In early’s 2000 this modernized their fleet by acquiring the MV Calypso. New acquisitions were possible by sold out the previous vessels. MV Sea Diamond was acquired in the year 2006 but in 2007 it sank off in Santorini.
