Orient Lines

Orient lines were founded by Gerry Herrod in 1993. He is the same one who previously owns Ocean Cruise lines. In 1998 these lines was sold to the Norwegian Cruise Line. In March 2008, its operations were ceased and planned to restart its operations in April 2008. But due to the prevailing downturn throughout the world in 2008 and the re launch of its operations were delayed for the indefinite time period. Orient lines were known for a fabulous cruise lines that specializes in exotic destinations. In 1999 NCL was also acquired by the Star Cruises. After that NCL's Norwegian Crown proudly joints the Orient Lines fleet in the month of May, 2000 with the new name of Crown Odyssey. Exactly after one year Star cruises announces that their Super star Aries would join the Orient fleet as an Ocean Voyager. But the plan was embargoed and in 2003 Orient Lines reverted to operating with only one ship when Crown Odyssey returned to the NCL fleet.

For the worst in 2007 NCL announced that Marco Polo had been sold to the Greece-based Global Maritime with the finalization of delivery date. This states that Orient Lines face an end with no ship in its fleet. At last in mid of 2008 Star Cruises sold this brand to Origin Cruise Group that was owned by Wayne Heller. However new owners announces its re launch. But due to economic downturn its re launch was postponed for the indefinite time period.
